I was boot scootin’ across 57 channels and nothin’ on and I found the movie ‘My Fair Lady’ on TCM. In wide screen. Must have been remastered. But the kicker was that the movie is 70 years old. Jesus.
The Cuban Missile Crisis. 1962. Great memories of saying goodbye to our loved ones while eating as many Twinkies as possible.
I mentioned to a group of Millennial cops that I saw Ruby shoot Oswald live on TV. No one had any idea what I was talking about.
Neighbors always think I’m bleeding out a big fat white deer if I step outside shirtless.
A wise man told me it isn’t the actual rating, it is the neighborhood of the rating that counts.
I love Seinfeld the man. But his new Netflix movie was like a flubbery 90-minute SNL sketch…some funny moments…some cool ancient pop culture references…some references to classic rock…wait…er…
Was I the only kid who got yelled at for sticking my hand down to the bottom of the cereal box for the prize?
Reading me takes 3 minutes. Video reviews go on forever. If you’re not in love with the reviewer, it is impossible.
The draw is just a little tight. It needs a little prick…no thanks, I’ve got one.
How do you tell an excellent player that he needs to go home and practice more.
I wanted privacy. I moved into a bedsitter flat. No bathroom. Just a sink. All my friends lived in a flat around the corner. When I wasn’t touring, I’d spend as much time as possible with them. But when I went home, the silence…except for the constant London rain, was stark. I was only 25. And 6000 miles from home.
I was a disappointment to my father. I understand. Depression era kids had a different view of the world than their Boomer children. I went to college. But a music career was my goal. My dad didn’t understand why the struggle was worth it to me. My dad died a couple years after my skydiving accident and that debacle laid me up making me look like a failure and a stupid individual that made bad decisions.
I barely remember my mother. She’s been gone 56 years. I owe her my even keeled way of looking at things. Grumpiness came later in my life. The same wise man told me it is perceived grumpiness by those that don’t understand that at some point, you’ve earned the right to see things how you see things.
Aging may bring a loss of vocal flexibility. The joints of the larynx may become stiff, and its cartilage may calcify. The vocal cords may lose muscle tone, flexibility and elasticity, and dry out… the larynx can atrophy, become thinner and weaker. Your ribs may become more calcified. Your torso may shrink, and your lungs may become smaller, stiffer and less pliable. Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, the appetite may sicken, and so die…That strain again! It had a dying fall: if music be the food of love…play on…he said in a croaking barely audible voice.
