Napa Cigar Society is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a trio of special cigars, all of which measure 6 x 46.
Two cigars are exclusives for the California store. The Ferio Tego Napa Cigar 10 Year Collection uses a Dominican wrapper over a Dominican binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. While it uses the gray-on-black band that Ferio Tego has used for its exclusive releases for the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA), this is a completely different blend. In fact, the Napa Cigar exclusive is made by Quesada in the Dominican Republic, while the TAA cigars were made by Plasencia in Nicaragua.
The price is set at $14.95 per cigar and production is limited to 260 boxes of 10 cigars.
There is also the Padilla 1932 Oscuro Napa Cigar 10 Year Collection, the first time the Padilla 1932 blend has been offered in the 6 x 46 size. It is a Nicaraguan puro with a corojo-seed oscuro wrapper over criollo-seed tobaccos used for the binder and fillers. It’s made at El Titan de Bronze in Miami.
Pricing is set at $17.95 per cigar and the production run was limited to 3,200 cigars, which are offered in boxes of 20 and 50.
Finally, Napa Cigar is getting a soft launch of the upcoming L’Atelier Côte d’Or La Tâche ’18. This is a cigar that is scheduled to ship nationwide next month, but Napa Cigar will be the first store to receive the cigars. Pete Johnson, founder of Tatuaje, told Woggi that Napa is getting the first 50 boxes out of the 1,000 box production run. Outside of an added band for Napa Cigar, the cigars are the same as the ones that will ship to stores next month.
Blend-wise, the Côte d’Or La Tâche ’18 uses an Ecuadorian Sancti Spiritus wrapper over Nicaraguan tobaccos for the binder and filler. That includes pelo de oro, Spanish for golden hair, a type of tobacco that has banned in Cuba due to its propensity to develop mold. The García family, owners of My Father—which also rolls the L’Atelier cigars—has grown the tobacco in limited quanitites in Nicaragua and pelo de oro has been used for various L’Atelier releases.
The MSRP for the Côte d’Or La Tâche ’18 is $16 per cigar.
“Our goal with the 10 Year Collection was to have some of our favorite blends rolled in our favorite size—a classic 6 x 46,” said Eric Smaldino, owner of Napa Cigar Society, in a press release. “We want to thank Ernesto Padilla, Michael Herklots, and Pete Johnson for helping us to achieve that goal and we are excited to share these exceptional cigars with cigar enthusiasts around the world.”
Napa Cigar says it will begin shipping orders on June 21.
