BACKGROUND:
From Casdagli Cigars:
“The Basilica Line was created to honour the great patriarch of the Casdagli family who established the family Egyptian cotton business – Emmanuel Casdagli. His portrait adorns Basilica Line’s cigar band.
“Basilica became the chosen name for the line as the word Basilica comes from the ancient Greek term meaning “Royal House” – invoking Emmanuel’s Villa Casdagli.
“The Basilica Line was inspired by Casdagli Cigar’s Saudi Arabian clients who were looking for a cigar blend to pair with oriental teas and Arabic citrus tasting cuisine. The “flared” foot of the Basilica Line cigars are designed this way so as to lead the smoker gently into the full bodied flavors emitted by the rich binder leaves of these cigars. Perfect for an after dinner smoke.”
THE WHOLE MEGILLAH:
Little Bitty Cigar Wednesday.
Look at this purty thing. It has a shaggy foot…like all the women I dated. Is it a Robusto? Nope. Is it painful to be missing that extra one inch? (Insert smart ass katman comment here). Let us begin.
It smells great. Like boutique caramel.
My PerfecDraw will not be needed. The draw is perfectomundo. Remarkably, I never have draw issues with Casdagli cigars.
This morning’s mix is Zeppelin, Sinatra, Beatles, Clapton, Stapleton, Smoky, and Morrison.
My hands shake. I press the go button on my Dupont. Flames erupt. My massive nose is safe.
Oh Jesus…flavors are one step past bat shit crazy. Holy crap. Caramel, creaminess, simple black pepper, candied lemon…nothing eruptive here but the richness is exactly like smoking a cigar that has been aged for 10 years. Wow.
Small is always good. Tell this, in a convincing manner, to your wife and see how she reacts.
This is a grownup cigar. No messing around. Beastly and manly.
I don’t have descriptives. Makes me realize what a dumb ass I am. This cigar should be described by some guy in a suit and tie…with a brandy snifter nearby. I’m kidding.
Strength is an immediate medium.
The musical accompaniment is absolutely perfect.
New horizons at half an inch. Malted coffee and cream. My godamm flavor wheel…where did I put it? Got it…floral notes, lemon crème, damn the torpedoes on just the right amount of spiciness, dark chocolate, slight honey, and ramble on LZ.
Sips of water are great; Bourbon would be better.
I’m just like you. If I’m smoking a cigar for fun, as I do 3-4 times per day, I don’t give a rat’s ass about individual flavors, nuances, subtleties. I like it. Or I don’t. Dissecting is something I do when I sit down and write about it.
Complex. Hell yeah. Sing my song.
Regular production. Two words I love right now.
Jeremy asked me where I buy his cigars. I told him. SBC and LCC of course. Where else? It’s all about the promo codes. I use my own katman code just like you.
It’s a devilish art to start out at medium. And while the blend soars with flavors and richness, keeping it there is supernatural. This is becoming a lost skill. They all might be attempting to use the Casdagli playbook, but mimicking is not the same as the original.
I’m not going to list a bunch of bullshit flavors. I’d be repeating myself. It’s all about the finished product in your hand. Does it make you happy. Do you find yourself puffing and then staring at the cigar and going, ‘Whoa. What is this. How do I get more?’
The inside of the cigar band has a little love note inscribed. I’m having fun.
Smacking lips is not planned…it just happens when your palate discovers something good. I feel like an idiot when I catch myself.
Unbelievable. The halfway point (35 minutes) and the cigar becomes exponentially better.
After promo codes, this little mutterfutter is only in the $12 region. This is nuts.
I never ask anyone to subscribe. I don’t care.
In the early 70’s, Disneyland had a day of big bands. Count Basie, Cab Calloway, Louis Armstrong, Ray Brown, Harry James, The Dorsey Brothers, Maynard Ferguson, and Duke Ellington. It was the only time I had to be pulled away from the park.
Small cuts it. I’d put my grandpa on the cigar band too.
You want a smooth hour+ smoke? Man, do I have the baby for you. Fly me to the moon.
Casdagli cigars are something special. Look through the large assortment that my sponsors Small Batch Cigar and Luxury Cigar Club carry. Prices are the same as they’ve ever been. Rocky Patels, Gurkhas, and Diesels are now the same price as a beautiful Jeremy Casdagli blend. The choice is easy.
You can buy this Basilica, and other Casdagli blends, from sponsors Small Batch Cigar (10% off with promo code ‘katman’) and Luxury Cigar Club (15% off with promo code ‘katman’).
RATING: 100 Not a second thought.
