This cigar has a complex, spicy and woody taste with subtle hints of vanilla and herbal flavours. Smooth and strong, but maybe not as strong as Punch used to be. With a perfect draw and combustion, this stick offers even more as smoke goes further.
Review #128: OCT 04 From the same box as review #46, 17 years later.
Very consistent with that two year old cigar, and others from that superb box over the years.
Of course, the aging has had its effects.
What was primary has become more subtle.
Strength has moderated only a bit, but body has increased.
Aroma is deeper and individual flavors are harder to distinguish, as they have developed into a more unified whole.
Whether this is an improvement is a matter of taste and opinion.
There is much to be said about the vigor, beauty and directness of youth, as there is to be said of the balance and finesse that comes with maturity.
As with wine, so with cigars.
And with people…. – Submitted by RonSigler on September 24, 2023
Review #127: — 17 Had an incredible Punch Punch, oily, with tremendous complexity, amazing structure and that hard to describe Punch flavours, sort of mixture between leather, coffee and furniture polish. Phenomenal flavours of an ancient era. What a cigar ! What a cigar ! – Submitted by Heinrich on May 7, 2022
Review #126: April 2018 exactly one year of age, such an underrated cigar! yes over the last 30 years I’ve also experienced a few boxes of these not so good but I can say the same about every other brand/size too. When you get a good box, like the one I just received and am smoking now they are med-full complex and delicious. Oh why oh why are they discontinuing so many Corona Gordas IMO one of the best vitolas. – Submitted by ian on April 6, 2019
Review #125: OCT Box date is ’16. A good cigar surpassed in flavor and complexity by many Cuban and non-Cuban cigars in the same or lower price range. The better samples had subtle leather, wood, and herbal flavors on an otherwise classic Cuban tobacco flavor profile. One-third of the box burned uneven and the draw was overfirm leaving a rather bland smoke. There is a hint of potential here that aging 4-5 years might bring out. – Submitted by Venezia on July 9, 2018
Review #124: FEB From a FEB 16 10-tubes box. Excellent cigar. Full flavours but not heavy and so easy to smoke. Not overly complex but balanced from start to finish. I believe I have tried all corona gordas in production from Cuba and they were all outstanding cigars, including the Punch Punch, which I was reluctant to try because of bad reviews. Wish there would be more releases in this size. – Submitted by titobueno76 on July 1, 2018
